The Howard Baker Forum: The Washington Conference on the Future of Nuclear Power, Climate Change and Sustainability

Session I will take a broad look at nuclear developments in Japan and the US.  Starting with an inside perspective on Japan’s reactor restarts by senior METI officials, the session will include a retrospective on U.S. – Japan collaboration during Operations Tomodachi and Mount Fuji, and an update on U.S. operations and construction from Southern Company and Tennessee Valley Authority.

Session II will examine opportunities for nuclear energy in combatting climate change.  The session will feature former White House correspondent, anchor, and Washington Bureau Chief for CNN, Mr. Frank Sesno, who is now Director and Professor at The George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs and International Affairs.  He will lead a panel discussion of environmentalists titled “Nuclear Power, Alternatives and Sustainability.”  The panel includes Mrs. Gwen Cravens, author of The Power to Save the World.  We will also welcome Oscar-nominated documentary film maker Robert Stone, director of Pandora’s Promise.
