US-Japan Roundtable Hosts Quarterly Members Meeting

Last month, the US-Japan Roundtable held a quarterly members meeting at the offices of Baker Donelson in Washington, DC. The meeting included an update on Japan’s nuclear energy policy by Shinjiro Takeda of METI, a discussion on nuclear energy policy under President Trump led by Mike Goff from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and a briefing on the newly formed US Nuclear Energy Leadership Task Force by Ellen Scholl and Robert Ichord, both from the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center.

Below you can find the presentation of Shinjiro Takeda on Japan’s nuclear energy policy. Additionally, in this post we have included the report authored by Dr. Ichord titled “US Nuclear-Power Leadership and the Chinese and Russian Challenge.” The issue brief included findings discussed at an expert workshop hosted by the Atlantic Council with support from the Howard Baker Forum. A task force has now been created to confront and address the issues presented by China and Russia throughout the nuclear energy industry.
