IRID RFI: Approaches to Fuel Debris Retrieval at Fukushima


As the decommissioning efforts at Fukushima Daiichi continue, focus is starting to shift to Phase 2 of the project, which will include fuel retrieval from the reactor core in 2020.

In advance of this work, the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID) has released an RFI to solicit information from industry, academia and government-affiliated agencies on “issues related to designing innovative approaches to fuel debris retrieval, as well as to identifying technologies required to achieve the objectives.”
