While many countries are rolling back their use of nuclear energy in the wake of Fukushima, there still seems to be a clear effort by emerging nations to make nuclear reactors a major part of their energy future.
According to Business Recorder, a Pakistan business daily:
“About half of nuclear reactors under construction are in China,” [Uranium Energy Corp Chief Executive Amir] Adnani said. “South Korea, India, Russia…the countries that need nuclear power the most are the emerging economies, or the economies that are growing most rapidly.”
Adnani goes on to point out that new reactors will be based on technology generations beyond Fukushima and many of the other reactors some as old as 40 years that are still in use.
